Guinea-Bissau crisis: Nigeria’s former President Obasanjo appointed as Mediator


Nigeria’s former President Olusegun Obasanjo has been appointed to mediate the Guinea-Bissau crisis. President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled Nigeria’s peace efforts in Guinea Bissau at the Ecowas Consultation Meeting of Heads of State and Government at the ongoing 71st United Nation General Assembly (Unga), in New York.

A statement from the Presidency said Obasanjo would be tasked to facilitate dialogue with all the Guinea Bissau stakeholders. President Buhari said Nigeria had resolved to spearhead the rehabilitation of former combatants and support security reforms in Guinea Bissau.
