China urges President Kiir to prosecute killers of Chinese soldiers
China is asking South Sudan to identify and punish those responsible for killing two Chinese soldiers in the capital, Juba. The peacekeepers were killed by a mortar shell earlier this month during fighting between supporters of President Salva Kiir and former rebel leader, Riek Machar.
During that time personnel of the United Nations Mission to South Sudan also came under attack. China has sent more than 30,000 officers and soldiers to 24 United Nations peacekeeping missions.
