ASUU accuses Vice Chancellor of undue promotion.

Nigeria's Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Yola Zone, has raised an alarm on scandalously promotion of no fewer than 30 unqualified persons to the rank of professor by the Vice Chancellor of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Prof Hilary O. Edogha.

reports said that Yola Zonal Chairman Dr Augustine Ndaghu stated this at a press conference,jointly held by ASUU chairpersons for Gombe, Maiduguri,Yobe, Bauchi, universities in Yola.

He said that the Vice Chancellor flagrantly abused the conditions guiding appointments and promotions in the University by single-handedly
employed over 1000 staff having collected N3,800 from over 2000 unsuspecting job seekers.

He said that the Vice Chancellor has also turned TETFund sponsorship as a means of rewarding loyalist and associates by sending them to multiple conferences and workshop around the globe.

ASUU, however call on the Visitor to the University, President Muhammadu Buhari,the National University Commission(NUC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission(ICPC) to as a matter of urgency intervene and save the University from clutches of Prof. Hillary O. Edogha before it is too late
